Louder Than Life 2026 is not a normal festival announcement. When Danny Wimmer Presents stacks Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Megadeth on a single Thursday night — with Pantera playing their only U.S. date of the entire year and Megadeth making one of their final farewell appearances — this stops being a festival and becomes something you have to defend skipping. Spread across four days, seven stages, and nearly 200 bands at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, the 2026 edition is the biggest bill in the event’s history and one of the most consequential festival lineups assembled in years.
Dates, Location & Headliners
Louder Than Life 2026 runs September 17–20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, Louisville, KY. Four days. Seven stages. Here’s how the headliner schedule breaks down:
Thursday, September 17: Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeth
Friday, September 18: My Chemical Romance, Pierce The Veil, A Day to Remember
Saturday, September 19: Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Sublime
Sunday, September 20: TOOL, Gojira, Danny Elfman
Thursday night alone is the kind of bill that would sell out an arena tour. Iron Maiden headlining a festival that also has Pantera and Megadeth in the same night is a logistical nightmare for your neck and a once-in-a-career moment for your memory. If you want the full story on Maiden’s catalog and why they belong at the top of any bill they’re on, read our breakdown: Iron Maiden Discography & Legacy.
Sunday closes with TOOL, Gojira, and Danny Elfman — a genuinely strange and perfectly assembled trifecta that rewards anyone who stays through the weekend.
Why 2026 Is Different
Every year has a hook. 2026 has several, and they’re not marketing fluff — they’re the kind of circumstances that define a festival edition long after the weekend ends.
Pantera’s only U.S. show of 2026. One date. One stage. Louisville. That’s it for North America this year.
Megadeth farewell. Louder Than Life is one of the band’s final farewell performances. This is not a standard tour stop — it is one of the last times you will see this band play.
Cavalera performing Sepultura’s Roots live. Max and Igor Cavalera are playing the Roots album front to back — the first time in nearly a decade. That set alone belongs on a different stage in a different era, and it’s happening at Louder Than Life.
All-female-fronted stage on Saturday. Halestorm, In This Moment, Lindsey Stirling, and Orianthi headline a dedicated stage — one of the more focused and genuinely stacked undercard bookings the festival has pulled off.
Reunion sets across the weekend. Circa Survive, Get Scared, Blood For Blood, and Metal Church are all on the bill — bands that do not play together regularly and whose appearances here carry weight.
Mystery guests still TBA. DWP has confirmed both a mystery guest and a “very special guest” that have not been announced. At this point in the bill, the bar for surprise is high.
Full Lineup Highlights
Nearly 200 bands across seven stages means the full lineup runs deep. Beyond the headliners, the bill pulls from multiple corners of the genre — classic thrash, post-hardcore, nu-metal, progressive, and crossover. Confirmed highlights include:
Metal and Thrash: Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeth, Gojira, Cavalera (performing Roots), Metal Church, Blood For Blood
Rock and Alternative: My Chemical Romance, Pierce The Veil, A Day to Remember, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Sublime
Progressive and Experimental: TOOL, Danny Elfman
All-Female-Fronted Stage: Halestorm, In This Moment, Lindsey Stirling, Orianthi
Reunion and Special Sets: Circa Survive, Get Scared, Metal Church
The remaining slots — and the mystery guests — fill in a bill that already justifies the price of admission several times over. If you’re tracking what else is happening in the 2026 festival circuit, see our guides on Welcome to Rockville 2026 and Sonic Temple 2026.

If Pantera’s only U.S. show and a Megadeth farewell set aren’t enough to move you, nothing will. Thursday alone is the reason most people will be in Louisville in September.
