Metal & Hard Rock News Rundown – March 6, 2026

Logistics, health, and farewell tours running long. Here's what's moving this Friday.

Iron Maiden's LA Show Got Moved — Because of Football

Iron Maiden's sold-out September 26 show at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles has been pushed to Sunday, September 27. The reason: USC Trojans vs. Oregon Ducks at Memorial Coliseum — which shares Exposition Park — draws 100,000 people, and the city won't permit two events of that scale in the same complex on the same night. The Friday September 25 show is unaffected. Manager Rod Smallwood called it a "unique situation" and said the band was "completely shocked." All tickets carry over automatically.

Sabaton Reschedule North American Tour After Bassist Injury

Sabaton's "Legends On Tour" North American run is back on the calendar after bassist Pär Sundström dealt with inflammation in both arms. The rescheduled dates now run September 23 through December 12, opening in Halifax and closing in Fort Lauderdale, with major stops including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston. Winnipeg got a second date added due to demand. Tampa, Greensboro, and Pittsburgh were cut from the routing — Pittsburgh was told to "stay tuned."

Megadeth's Farewell Tour Isn't Done Yet

Megadeth's Canadian run alongside Anthrax and Exodus is winding down, but the farewell machine is nowhere near stopping. The band's self-titled final record dropped January 23, and drummer Dirk Verbeuren has publicly hinted the tour will likely be documented with an official live album. For a farewell projected to span several years, they're treating the archiving with the same seriousness as the shows.

Stephen Carpenter Opens Up About Type 2 Diabetes Battle

Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter revealed in a Premier Guitar interview that he spent years battling Type 2 diabetes without a diagnosis — attributing the symptoms to aging. During the recording of private music, his right arm pain became so severe he could barely move it. He pushed through the session, got diagnosed around 2024, and has since made lifestyle adjustments. "I just thought it was old-man life shit," he said. Worth reading the full interview if you're in a band and wondering why your body isn't cooperating.

Kittie Announce June Headline Run

Kittie are back on the road with a June headline run supported by Kingdom of Giants and Gore. The Canadian quartet's 2025 reunion run sold hard, and this extension confirms they're not treating it as a one-off nostalgia lap. Three distinct acts on this bill — the range is wider than most packages you'll see this summer.

Unearth Return to Metal Blade Records

Unearth are back at Metal Blade Records — the label where they built their reputation — with new music expected in 2027. Metal Blade A&R Michael Faley called the re-signing "a massive win for both sides." After years at other homes, this feels like a band getting back to the environment where the best work gets made.

Black Label Society Announce Engines of Demolition for March 27

Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society are back with Engines of Demolition, dropping March 27 via MNRK Heavy. Standard BLS operating procedure: heavy, blues-drenched, and engineered to shake walls. If you've been riding with Wylde since Sonic Brew, this one's already in the pre-order queue.
