Belushi Speed Ball Drop "How Tough Am I?" Video Featuring Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman, Announce New Album Out June 5

Belushi Speed Ball — ‘How Tough Am I?’ video still

Louisville thrash jokers Belushi Speed Ball are back with a new single and video, “How Tough Am I?”, and they brought a cult icon along for the ride. Troma Entertainment co-founder and filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman (The Toxic Avenger) makes a cameo in the clip.

If you’ve been living in our daily feed lately, hit the Rundown hub for the latest drops and quick hits.

“How Tough Am I?” is the second single from the band’s upcoming fourth album, Toxic Waste Was Everywhere In The ’80s, due June 5, landing just ahead of their appearance at Milwaukee Metal Fest.

The video features stop-motion animation by Toni Alarco and Blanca Collado, pairing DIY visual chaos with Belushi Speed Ball’s pit-ready, crossover-thrash punchline delivery.

Kaufman showing up here isn’t a random celebrity pop-in, it’s a signal flare for anyone who grew up on VHS filth, late-night cable, and the DIY tradition that runs through both punk and thrash. Troma is cheap, loud, and proud of it, and that ethos lines up perfectly with Belushi Speed Ball’s whole lane: don’t over-polish it, don’t overthink it, just make it hit.

If you’ve never checked the band, this is a good entry point because it frames what they do in one shot, riff-first crossover thrash with jokes that still land in a pit. The title is a straight lift from the Salty Spitoon gag, but the song itself is built like a real heater, fast, tight, and meant to be yelled back at the stage.

There’s also a bigger story here for bands at this level. Getting a recognizable cult figure like Kaufman on camera is one thing, but the detail that matters is the way the band is presenting the rollout. They are leaning into tangible, scene-native platforms. A Bandcamp pre-order, a DIY-heavy video concept, and a couple well-placed live dates. That is the modern “work the record” plan when you do not have a massive promo machine, and you do not want one.

If you caught them live before, you know the whole thing is built around momentum. It is funny, but it is not soft. The riffs are there, the tempo stays up, and the crowd interaction is designed to keep the room moving. That is why a festival slot like Milwaukee Metal Fest makes sense for this era of the band. It is the right environment for crossover thrash that does not take itself too seriously, but still hits like a real set.

Vocalist Vinny Castellano explained the Kaufman cameo as the logical next step in the band’s proudly unhinged mission statement:

“On our journey to ripping off the greatest thrash band of all time, Municipal Waste, we just knew we had to get Lloyd Kaufman in our music video. And that’s exactly what we done did. The Toxic Avenger director himself makes a cameo for our newest track, ‘How Tough Am I?’ A good old fashion Spongebob song, retelling his adventures trying to get into the Salty Spitoon. We are featuring Stop Motion animation by world renowned artists, Toni Alarco and Blanca Collado. And we are again proud to say, no AI has been used.”
