Metal & Hard Rock News – April 15, 2026: Halestorm, Polaris, Venom & More

Metal & Hard Rock News Rundown – April 15, 2026

Six stories. Wednesday. Let’s get into it.

If something moved overnight, this is where it lands: lineup swaps, quick singles, tour noise, and the little signals that tell you what’s about to get loud.

Lzzy Hale Reflects on Halestorm’s Early Church-Scene Days

Halestorm’s early gigs came with a “Christian rock band” perception in their local scene, and Lzzy Hale says the band eventually stepped away from that world, not out of some edgy pivot, but because the pressure and hypocrisy around them got exhausting.

In a recent interview, Hale described growing up going to church, then getting pushback when the band’s songs did not fit the “say Jesus more” expectation. She also framed music as the thing that felt more spiritually real to her than the institution. It’s the kind of origin-story footnote that still clings to bands forever, even when the catalog clearly does not match the label. For a band that built its name on muscle, melody, and zero interest in staying boxed in, it also explains why Halestorm never fit neatly into anybody else’s lane for long.

Polaris Recruit Ryan Neff (Miss May I) for North American Run

Polaris have brought in Ryan Neff (Miss May I, ex-As I Lay Dying) to cover bass and vocals on their upcoming North American dates.

The swap is temporary. Polaris’ bassist/vocalist Jake Steinhauser is staying home due to family health concerns, and the band emphasized they fully support that decision.

This run has Polaris supporting Electric Callboy, with Scene Queen opening. From a live-show standpoint, Neff makes sense immediately, he knows how to hold the low end together and sell the energy without the set feeling half-staffed.

Venom Share “Kicked Outta Hell” Single From Into Oblivion

Venom have shared a new track titled “Kicked Outta Hell”, billed as a single from the upcoming album ** Into Oblivion **.

If this record lands the way the title promises, it is going to be pure blunt-force, no-frills heavy metal, the kind that does not ask permission and does not care about algorithm-friendly polish. That is still the Venom appeal, ugly edges intact, legacy intact, and no need to modernize the grime out of the thing.

Killswitch Engage + Machine Head Set Summer North American Touring

Killswitch Engage and Machine Head are lining up a summer North American run.

We’ll post dates and ticket links once the routing is fully confirmed and public. (If this ends up being the package it looks like on paper, it is going to print.)

If you’re planning ahead, keep an eye on the routing for any Bay Area or SoCal adds, this is exactly the kind of summer bill that sells fast once the on-sales hit.

Sleep Token, Sleeping With Sirens + Dayseeker Hit New Certification Milestones

A cluster of recent RIAA certification updates has Sleep Token, Sleeping With Sirens, and Dayseeker all landing new gold and platinum plaques.

This is one of those quiet industry indicators that matters more than the social feed, catalog tracks that just keep accumulating listens long after the “moment” supposedly passed.

P.O.D. Are Recording a New Album With Producer Will Yip

P.O.D. are in the studio working on a new album with producer Will Yip.

If you track modern heavy production at all, Yip’s name is a signal. He’s become a go-to for bands who want impact without sanding the teeth off.
